ISIS claims attack on SDF in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility on Wednesday, through close outlets, for attacking a checkpoint of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq news agency reported that ISIS militants attacked one of the SDF checkpoints in the town of al-Busayrah, some 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor, with machine guns and RPGs.

The attack resulted in the injury of several SDF fighters and material damage to the checkpoint.

This is the second attack on the same checkpoint where ISIS militants targeted it two days ago and caused the death of two SDF fighters and the injury of one another.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the region has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal figures and civilians.

On Wednesday, ISIS claimed responsibility for two attacks against the SDF in the east of Deir ez-Zor.
