HTS to carry out false flag operation in Idlib – Khmeimim
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense, said on Saturday that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) intends to carry out a false flag operation in Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria.
The center was informed that militants of the HTS and members of the White Helmets planned to carry out a provocation in Idlib, according to Deputy Head of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria, Oleg Egorov.
“The militants are fabricating videos as results of fabricated strikes on the refugee camps in the towns of Kafr Daryan and Kafr Jales in Idlib.”
The goal of the operation is to accuse Russian Air Force and the Syrian government forces of targeting civilian infrastructure and humanitarian sites, he added.
On November 5, the Russian Center said that the HTS and the Turkistan Islamic Party are preparing to attack Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia with the use of combat unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze drones.
