Casualties in Turkish-suspected drone strike in KRI’s Sinjar

ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – At least one person lost his life and two others were wounded on Thursday in a Turkish-suspected drone strike of the city center of Sinjar (Shengal) in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (KRI).

A local source told North Press that a drone, likely to be Turkish, targeted a military vehicle this evening in the city of Shengal in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

He added that the four-wheel drive military vehicle belonged to the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS).

The YBS, which is a predominantly Yezidi force, was formed in 2014 to drive out ISIS members from the area after the withdrawal of the Iraqi army. Since then, it has remained a powerful local force in the area.

The same area witnessed several Turkish air raids, targeting fighters in the YBS, the last of which was on October 11.
