New batch of Syrian IDPs leaving Hawl camp to Manbij

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Administration of Hawl camp east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, is taking measures to evacuate a new batch of Syrian IDPs towards their areas in the city of Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.

An exclusive source told North Press that the administration is registering names for the Syrian IDPs to be returned to their areas in Manbij.

In October, 2020, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) Executive Council decided to evacuate the Syrian families that wanted to leave.

The source added after returning this batch, another one including Iraqi refugees will be returned to Iraq.

On October 19, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displaced, Ali Abbas Jahangir, told North Press that 158 families, comprising 659 individuals, were returned to Iraq from Hawl camp.

However, the source did not provide more details about the number of families to be returned or the time for the process.

This is the third batch of Syrian IDPs to leave the camp during the current year. The last batch, including 400 individuals, numbering 77 families from Deir ez-Zor, left the camp in August.

Late in 2021, 51 families, numbering 200 individuals, left the camp and headed to Manbij.

Hawl camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.

The camp witnesses murders with different methods, most notably firearms. The management of the camp fears that the latest Turkish threats of invading areas in northern Syria would pave the way for ISIS to reorganize its ranks; North Press cited a statement by the management as saying.
