AANES stresses on working on water Projects in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stressed on Sunday, in its conference of the year 2022, on paying attention to water projects in northeast Syria, and especially the city of Hasakah.
This came during a conference held in Serdam Hall in the city of Hasakah with 436 participants representing Municipalities, three regions and representatives of communes and councils.
Deputy co-chair of the AANES’ Local Administration and Environment Board in the al-Jazira region, Ghassan Aebd said that “The water issue has been the biggest problem for three years, and we have to find solutions to the problem of Alouk station.”
“The low level of the Euphrates River, and the Turkey’s blockage of the Khabur River was a major obstacle to securing drinking water, as an emergency solution.”
Abed stressed the need to “find a real and fundamental solution and implement alternative projects to the Allouk station.”
The co-chair of the AANES’ Local Administration and Environment Board of the Jazira region, Ester Anton Murad, said, “Several projects were implemented in the Jazira region [Hasakah Governorate] in 2022, especially water projects in Hasakah, but they were not enough.”
Next year, she said, “The biggest project will be to secure drinking water for Hasakah.”
