Government, HTS exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Areas in de-escalation zone in the countryside of Aleppo, and Idlib, northwest Syria, witnessed on Friday night, mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
A military source from the opposition told North Press that after midnight, the government forces tried to advance towards a military post of HTS near Kafr Amma, west of Aleppo, sparking violent clashes between both sides leading the government forces to withdrawal.
The infiltration attempt was followed by government artillery and rocket shelling with over 100 shells targeting the towns and villages of Kafr Amma, Tuqad, al-Qasr, Tadil, Rehab, and Kafr Nouran in the western countryside of Aleppo.
The aforementioned shelling was proceeded by another government shelling targeting the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Benin, al-Ruweiha, al-Bara, San, Shnan, Moataf, Sarjah, and Majdalaiya in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib.
Meanwhile, a source in the National Front for Liberation told North Press that “al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted with heavy artillery positions of the government forces in Base 46, Basratun, Urem al-Kubra, Kabtan al-Jabali in west of Aleppo, causing casualties among the ranks of the government forces.
