Syria’s AANES distributes 3000 tons of wheat seeds to farmers
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Agricultural Society Development Company has distributed more than 3000 tons of wheat seeds to farmers in the cities of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, and Derik, far northeast Syria, so far.
Maher Hassan, co-chair of Agricultural Society Development Company in Hasakah, affiliated to Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said they have been distributing soft and hard wheat seeds since the mid-October.
On October 15, Agricultural Board in northern Syria began distributing seeds to all agricultural centers and committees in Jazira region, according to Hassan.
The Jazira region is an administrative division that includes the cities of Qamishli, Hasakah, Derik (al-Malikiyah), Amuda and al-Qahtaniyah (Tirbe Spi).
He added that they continue to distribute agricultural licenses to farmers for this season.
Irrigated lands will be cultivated with 70% wheat, as each acre will be allocated 30 kilograms of soft and hard wheat seeds, according to the plan developed by the Agriculture Board.
Meanwhile, Rainfed lands will be cultivated with 60% wheat, 18 kg for each acre.
The price of sterilized and sifted wheat seeds in the company for this year amounted to 2.300 SYP, according to Hassan.
In his Turn, Co-chair of Agricultural Community Development Company in the city of Derik, Shevan Deli, said that they distribute 100 tons per day for each center in the districts of Derik, Girke Lege, Jil Agha, Tel Kojer.
