Government forces kill armed attacker in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – At dawn on Saturday, an unknown gunman was killed in an attack on a headquarters of the Syrian government forces in the city of Abu Kamal on the Syrian border with Iraq.
A military source of the government forces said a gunman at his 30s tried to target the Military Security headquarters in the middle of the city with a Kalashnikov before been killed by a government guard.
The attacker had no documentations or evidences that could verify his identity, the source told North Press, adding locals could not verify him too.
Two days ago, a soldier of the Military Security Branch of the government forces was killed in an unidentified attack on a military headquarters in Abu Kamal east of Deir ez-Zor.
The Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias run vast swathes of the Syrian Desert that has recently witnessed several battles between the government forces and Iranian militias on one hand and the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on the other.
