Turkish shelling kills, wounds government soldiers in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A soldier of the Syrian government forces was killed while five others were wounded on Thursday night in Turkish shelling of government’s outposts in the vicinity of the town of Zirgan (Abu Rasin), north of Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.

A military source told North Press, “Turkish forces heavily shelled military posts of the government on the outskirts of the village of Tel al-Ward, south of Zirgan.”

The bombardment killed a soldier named Bassel al-Saleh, and injured five others, all in the same location.

Russian forces intervened and took the six soldiers to the Legerin Hospital in Tel Tamr town.

A medical source at the hospital told North Press that the injuries were of varying severity, without mentioning further details.

On Thursday, the Turkish forces struck with artillery the villages of Tel al-Ward and Khirbat al-Shaer in the morning and the villages of Rabi’at and al-Aboush at night.
