AANES opens Children Hospital in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Health Board of the Raqqa Civil Council of the Autonomous Administration of Northeast Syria (AANES) opened on Wednesday the Children Hospital in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.

The hospital sits in the compound of the Raqqa National Hospital.

Prior to opening the hospital, Raqqa had three public hospitals, which were Al-Hilal Hospital, the Obstetrics Hospital and the National Hospital. Raqqa and its countryside also had 28 medical centers that provide free treatment including and 12 centers run by NGOs, according to the Health Committee in the Raqqa Civil Council of the AANES.

Rajab al-Mushref said in the opening address, “This hospital will provide important services to the residents of Raqqa, especially with the absence of a hospital specialized in treating children in the city.”

Al-Mushrif noted to the importance of the hospital’s opening in light of the rising population density in Raqqa.

He added that “this is one of the biggest hospitals in northeast Syria.”

The new hospital includes multiple departments such as ER, OR, X-Rays, and Outpatient clinics, which will provide health services for children in light of the spread of diseases.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.
