Residents find unknown decapitated head in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Residents of a village in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor governorate, eastern Syria, found on Wednesday a decapitated head hanging from an unfinished building.

A local source from the town of Jazra Albuhamid, in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, said that residents of the town found a decapitated head of a man, who is in his forties, hanging from an unfinished building at the entrance of a public market in the town.

The source said, quoting a forensic pathologist in the town, that the head was recently slaughtered, while the body has not been found yet.

Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) has started investigations on the issue, while the victim has not been identified yet.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the region has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) members, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal figures and civilians.

On September 25, unknown armed men, believed to be members of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), kidnapped a man and his wife and killed them on charges of “practicing witchcraft” in a town north of Deir ez-Zor.
