Turkish forces shell village in Syria’s Hasakah
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Tuesday evening a village in the countryside of Tel Tamr town, north of Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.
A military source in the Tel Tamr military council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press, “The Turkish forces shelled with artillery the village of Khirbat al-Shaer, north of the town.”
“The shelling resulted in material damage in residents’ properties, but no casualties,” he added.
The villages in Hasakah countryside are repeatedly shelled by the Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition factions, known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).
Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.
