US-led coalition reveals truth of blasts in base in NE Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – US-led Global Coalition revealed on Sunday the truth of explosions heard on Saturday night in its base east of Deir ez-Zor governorate, eastern Syria.
On Saturday, several explosions were heard in the vicinity of Global Coalition’s base near al-Omar oil field, east of Deir ez-Zor.
Local websites circulated news about targeting the base that was followed by firing missiles and intensive warplanes’ flight over the area.
The Combined Joint Task Forces Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTFOIR) on its Twitter account said, “Tonight in the vicinity of Deir Al-Zour, US Coalition forces conducted a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System operational rehearsal.”
It added the operation was launched “to maintain crew proficiency and readiness.”
At least eight missiles were launched from the base toward Syrian government-held areas, west of Euphrates, following the explosions.
Additionally, a military post of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), nearby desert of the government-held town of al-Jalaa, was targeted, according to a local source of the town.
The Iranian-backed militias and government forces control vast lands of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which lately has witnessed several battles between them and ISIS.
