ISIS claims responsibility for targeting SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Sunday responsibility for targeting a Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) headquarters in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
ISIS-run Amaq News Agency said in a statement ISIS militants targeted SDF headquarters with machineguns and missiles in the village of Tel Daman in the town of al-Busayrah, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
The attack resulted in the injury of one soldier and damaging the headquarters, while the ISIS militants returned to their posts, the agency added.
A military source of the SDF in the town confirmed that a military headquarters went under an attack by ISIS, using a missile and machineguns, resulting in clashes forced ISIS militants to flee away.
However, no causalities were recorded among the SDF fighters, according to the source.
Although the SDF launches intensive security operations in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the region has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.
The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
On Oct. 21, the ISIS claimed responsibility for targeting a military vehicle belonging to the SDF in the town of Ain Issa north of Raqqa, north Syria.
