Blasts shake Coalition base in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor, alliance fires back
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Several explosions were heard on Saturday evening in the vicinity of the US-led Coalition’s base near the al-Omar oil field, east of the eastern Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor. Following the blasts, the Coalition launched missiles from the base, amid frequent flight over the area.
A local source in the town of al-Shuhail, east of Deir ez-Zor, near the al-Omar oil field, said, “Several explosions were heard near the Coalition’s base, and fire broke out inside the field.”
He added, “At least eight missiles were seen firing from the base towards areas held by the Syrian government forces in west of the Euphrates. This came minutes after the explosions.”
This was followed by overflights over the region and along the river bank of the Euphrates River, which is still taking place until the moment of writing this piece.
A military source from the town of al-Jalaa, which is under the control of government forces and is located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press, “A military post of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) near the town’s desert was targeted by an airstrike.” North Press could not obtain further information.
Another local source in the city of Deir ez-Zor informed North Press that three explosions resounded in the city’s vicinity a while ago, amid sounds of ambulances’ sirens inside the city.
