Israel targets military posts in Syrian capital with missiles

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli airstrike targeted on Friday the airspace of Damascus and southern region of Syria.

The airstrike was the first alleged Israeli airstrike on Syria in over a month.

State-run SANA News Agency said, in a statement, “Nearly at 23.03 Friday, October 21st, 2022, the Israeli enemy carried out a missile aggression from the north-eastern direction of Tiberias, targeting some posts in the vicinity of Damascus.”

The army air defenses repelled the aggression, shooting down most of them, according to SANA.

Only material losses were recorded.

Opposition sources said Israel targeted three military posts in the vicinity of the capital Damascus with four surface to surface missiles from Golan Heights.

The attack targeted an Iranian temporary repository that is between al-Husseiniya and Aqabat al-Adiliyah, south of Damascus, with two missiles, destroying it completely, according to the sources.

The attack also targeted a military post of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport, according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

In addition, the attack targeted a repository of Iranian-backed Hezbollah that is between the paragliding site and the military school in the town of al-Dimas, northwestern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added.

On September 16, five soldiers of the Syrian government forces were killed in an Israeli airstrike, targeting Damascus International Airport and other areas near the capital.
