3.325 Syrian refugees return from Jordan in 2022
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – About 3.325 Syrian refugees have returned to their homeland from Jordan within nine months of the current year, according to a statistic provided by state-run al-Mamlaka TV broadcasted on Thursday.
The TV added Jordan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirm that the return is voluntary and not forced.
Since 2016 up to September, 341.500 Syrian refugees returned to Syria, some 64.278 resided in Jordan, according to statistics by the UNHCR.
The UNHCR stressed these numbers of Syrian returnees are verified and monitored by the UNHCR, but they do not reveal the total number that may be much more.
Over 1.3 million Syrian refugees are residing in Jordan about 676.000 of which are registered in UNHCR up to the 16th of October.
In a survey by the UNHCR in early 2022 publicized in June on Syria’s will to return home, it revealed 36% of the refugees have the intention to return to Syria within five years, but 2.4% willing to return within one year.
