14 individuals including ISIS militants killed in Syria’s Daraa in week
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – This week, Daraa governorate, south Syria, witnessed increase in killing incidents amidst security chaos sweeping the region, recording 14 killings including two militants of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
On Friday, four individuals, including two ISIS militants, were killed in the town of Jasim in the northern countryside of Daraa.
Local sources told North Press, “Ayham Faisal al-Halqi and Ayob al-Jebawi were killed in clashes with a local armed group in the town.”
Al-Halqi and al-Jebawi are accused of belonging to ISIS and responsible for targeting several anti-government individuals and members of the Central Committee, according to the sources.
The sources added that the two brothers Osama Khaled Omaira and Ibrahim Khaled Omaira, members of a local group, were killed in the clashes with ISIS.
On Thursday, local sources told North Press, “Nurse Adnan Hamid Kiwan was shot dead on the Tafas-Muzayrib road in the western countryside of Daraa.”
Similarly, another local source told North press that “Hamza al-Salloum was shot and killed by unknown attackers riding a motorcycle near the displaced people camp in Daraa city.”
On October 12, local sources said that unidentified attackers, who were riding a motorbike, killed Hassan Merei Shtar in the western neighborhood in the city of Sanamayn.”
Shtar worked in a shop for mobile phones selling and maintenance and he had not joint any military or security formations.
On the same day, a local source told North Press, “Hamza Jamal al-Falah was killed at hands of unidentified attackers, riding a motorbike in the city center of Sanamayn.”
On October 11, the residents found the body of Youssef Issam Alloh, bearing traces of gunshot in an agricultural area close to Daraa.
Alloh was a former member of Syrian opposition factions, according to eyewitnesses that stressed he had not joint any military or security party after he had his condition settled in the summer of 2018.
The body of Abi Abdullmajid al-Hariri was found near Nassib village in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
On October 10, local sources told North Press, “The so-called Muhammad Samir Qaddah was shot dead by soldiers serving in the Syrian government’s 4th Armored Division on the road connecting the towns of al-Hirak and Nahtah in Daraa eastern countryside.”
“Al-Qaddah hails from al-Hirak. He worked within the ranks of the Syrian armed opposition factions until 2018, when the government forces entered Daraa,” the sources added.
Similarly, another local source told North Press that unidentified gunmen opened fire on Muhammad al-Najjar in al-Sadd neighborhood in Daraa city, killing him immediately.
“Al-Najjar was a former member of the opposition factions, and was involved in drug trafficking in Daraa city,” the source noted.
On the same day, the 55-year-old Awad Sebaih Ayed al-Hkaldi died out of injuries he sustained in an attack by Mustafa al- Masalmeh, so called al-Kasem, affiliated to the Military Security Branch in Daraa in the vicinity of the town of Kharab al-Shahem.
Residents of al-Sanamayn found the body of a government employee, Rami Haj Qadour, according to eyewitnesses.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with one or two daily assassinations targeting soldiers and officers of the government forces, not to mention the spread of thefts.
In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. After that, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, with mediation of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement on September 5, 2021, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security posts in the towns of the governorate.
