Cholera-like cases rise in Syria’s Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – An exclusive medical source told North Press on Thursday that Cholera-suspected cases continue to increase within hospitals in Aleppo, northern Syria.

The source, who spoke to North Press on condition of anonymity, said, “During the last period, about 6.000 of Cholera-suspected cases reached to the hospitals of Zahi Azraq, Al-Razi, Ibn Rushd, and the University Hospital.”

Mid-September and after announcing the high number of Cholera cases in Aleppo, al-Razi and Zahi Azraq hospitals were isolated and minor surgeries were stopped.

On October 11, Media Office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government said that cholera infections in its areas has reached 757 cases.

The infections are recorded as follows: 477 in Aleppo, 130 in Deir ez-Zor, 60 in Hasakah, 29 in Raqqa, 23 in Latakia, 13 in Suwayda, eight in Damascus, seven in Hama, six in Homs, three in Daraa, and one in Qunaitra.

The total toll of deaths has reached 41 cases, distributed as follows: 34 in Aleppo, four in Hasakah, two in Deir ez-Zor, and one in Damascus.
