Security officer of Turkish-backed faction killed in Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Head of Interrogation Department of a Turkish-backed opposition faction was killed on Thursday by two fellow factions in the city of al-Bab, east of Aleppo Governorate.
The head of the Interrogation Department at the Military Police faction was killed by groups of Ahrar al-Sham and Hamza Division factions near the town of Qabasin in the countryside of al-Bab. All three factions are part of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).
An exclusive source told North Press that the so-called Ahmed Kinwa nicknamed Abu Muhannad, who hails from Homs countryside, was killed during clashes when his group was surrounded on the Qabasin road by militants of Ahrar al-Sham and Hamza Division.
This comes after the Military Police arrested on October 7 two militants of Hamza Division on charges of assassinating media activist Muhammad Abdullatif and his pregnant wife in the city of al-Bab.
“Kinwa was the head of interrogation Department of the Military Police in al-Bab and was in charge of interrogating with the people accused of assassinating the activist Muhammad Abdullatif and his wife,” the source added.
The city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo has been under the control of the SNA factions since 2017.
SNA militants repeatedly commit offences against civilians in the SNA-held areas in northern Syria, as courts there are only nominal.
