Cholera cases in Syrian government areas rise to 757
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Media office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government said on Tuesday night that cholera infections in its areas has reached 757 cases.
The infections are recorded as follows: 477 in Aleppo, 130 in Deir ez-Zor, 60 in Hasakah, 29 in Raqqa, 23 in Latakia, 13 in Suwayda, eight in Damascus, seven in Hama, six in Homs, three in Daraa, and one in Qunaitra.
The total toll of deaths reached 41 cases, distributed as follows: 34 in Aleppo, four in Hasakah, two in Deir ez-Zor, and one in Damascus.
On Monday, the World Health Organization announced that cholera epidemic has spread to 13 governorates in Syria, noting that the suspected cases has reached more than 13.000.
On September 10, Ministry of Health announced – for the first time – the recording of 15 cholera infections in Aleppo Governorate.
