IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – De-escalation zone in the countryside of Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia and Hama in north and west Syria witnessed on Monday mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA).

An opposition source told North Press that the government forces targeted with artillery shells and rockets opposition positions in the villages and towns of al-Wasatah, al-Abzimo, Tuqad, Kafr Nouran, Kafr Taal and Irhab in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The source added that the government forces also targeted the villages and towns of Fatterah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, Fleifel, Deir Sunbul, Benin, al-Ruweiha, al-Bara, San, Shnan and al-Bara in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, as well as Khirbat al-Naqus and al-Sirmaniyah in al-Ghab Plain, west of Hama.

Meanwhile, a source in the National Front for Liberation told North Press that “al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted with heavy artillery positions of the government forces in Base 46 and Basratun, west of Aleppo, in addition to al-Burkan Hill in Latakia northern countryside.

Al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room includes the National Front for Liberation, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Jaysh al-Izza. The military bloc is active in northwest Syria in general.

The areas in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces, despite being part of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in March 2020, which stipulates a halt of military action in Idlib.
