Foreign leader, member of HTS injured in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A foreign leader and a militant of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) were wounded on Saturday in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.

An exclusive source told North Press that unidentified gunmen riding a four-wheel drive vehicle targeted a military vehicle carrying the HTS Moroccan field leader Abu Ihsan al-Maghribi who serves at Base 46 front.

The vehicle of the leader, who was accompanied by an HTS militant, was targeted as they were driving on Armanaz road in west of Idlib, the source added.

As a result, the source said, the HTS leader and militant were severely wounded and taken to one of the hospitals in the area.

The General Security Service (GSS) of the HTS immediately set up security checkpoints in the western countryside of Idlib.

This came after the specifications of the perpetrators’ vehicle were circulated with the aim of tracking them down, according to the source.

On Saturday, the HTS handed over foreign detainees, who were imprisoned on charges of having affiliation with ISIS, to Turkish intelligence.
