Turkish forces shell village in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Thursday evening a village in the western countryside of Kobani, northern Syria, three days after mounting similar bombardment on other villages in the area.

The village of Zormaghar, west of Kobani, was bombarded sporadically with several artillery shells, which lasted for about an hour.

Abdulrahman Shawkat, a resident of Zormaghar village, told North Press that “more than seven artillery shells landed in the vicinity of the village.”

A shell fell near a resident’s home, and another one exploded while still in the air, he added.

No one was injured or killed, but the size of the damage is yet to be known, Shawkat said.

On Monday, Turkish forces heavily shelled several villages in the eastern and western countryside of Kobani, injuring two residents and causing a displacement wave among the people there.
