For second consecutive day another journalist attacked in Aleppo
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Two days ago, the correspondent of “RadioAlKul”, a local radio, was attacked when he was covering a protest organized by teachers in the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo to be the second of its kind in two days against media professionals.
On October 3, dozens of teachers in al-Bab set up a sit-in tent in front of the Education Directorate calling for a pay rise that could suit the living conditions.
RadioAlKul’s Siraj al-Shami told Enab Baladi he was attacked by a person whom he could not verify whether he was civilian or military personnel as he was covering protests of teachers in al-Bab.
Al-Shami added that he did not know why the person attacked him, saying it was likely that such a person was opposed to his coverage of teachers’ strike.
In a relevant issue, a leader in a faction of the Syrian National Army (SNA) known as Abu Sa’eed Sharqiya, attacked on October 3 Hadi Tatin, the correspondent of Syria TV and his cameraman Khaled al-Hibil, insulting them and threatening them with killing on the Bihar Street in the city of Afrin.
According to a report published yesterday by a local organization covers breaches against media professional in Syria, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) tops the table of breaches against media.
The Syrian Center for Journalistic Freedoms documented in its September Report seven breaches by HTS against journalists in the areas under its control in northwest Syria.
Areas under the control of Turkish-affiliated factions witness attacks against journalists while covering protests and sit-ins taking place in the area from time to time against deteriorating security and living conditions, according to reports.
