ISIS claims responsibility for attacks against SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Islamic State Organization (ISIS), through close outlets, claimed responsibility for carrying out two attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in both the eastern and northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency publicized a statement, in which it said the ISIS militants targeted, with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a military vehicle picking an SDF leader on the main route in the town of Jadeed Ekedat in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

It added that the attack caused the leader to be wounded and the car was damaged.

In an another attack ISIS claimed responsibility for, Amaq said the organization’s militants managed to take a fighter of SDF as a captive in the village of Abu al-Natil, affiliated with the Suwar in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, to be killed later after investigations.

So far, the SDF has not commented on the incident.

ISIS claimed, on Oct. 3, responsibility for targeting a military vehicle of the SDF in the town of Jazra Albuhamid, west of Deir ez-Zor.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
