HTS-affiliated group withdraws from camp north of Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syrian (North Press) – On Thursday, Jaysh al- Izza (the Army of Glory), a group affiliated to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) evacuated a military post in al-Bardeghli IDP camp north of Idlib under the HTS directives after reporting casualties in a Russian airstrike last week.
On September 27, a Russian warplane targeted, with four raids using highly explosive rockets, outskirts of the gathering of Kalbit camps close to Bab al-Hawa border crossing in north Idlib, injuring eight individuals.
A source from the camp’s administration told North Press that under immediate directives of the HTS leadership, 120 fighters in eight military vehicles loaded with medium and heavy machineguns and two trucks of military and logistic equipment left the post of Jaysh al-Izza in the al-Bardeghli camp.
A military source from Jaysh al-Izza said the withdrawal follows angry popular reactions due to the presence of military posts within camps house for thousands of IDPs amid accusations of Jaysh al-Izza that it takes civilians as human shields.
The withdrawal took place today morning where retreating forces headed towards Ariha south of Idlib, home to an ancient military post, according to the source.
