IED blast kills, injures government soldiers in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A number of government soldiers were killed and injured on Monday in an IED blast targeted a military vehicle in the eastern countryside of Daraa, south Syria.
A local source told North Press that, unknown gunmen targeted a military ZIL-130 vehicle, loaded with soldiers, by an IED planted near the town of al-Naimah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
The explosion left soldiers’ casualties who were evacuated by government forces arrived in the targeted area. The number of casualties remained unknown till this moment, the source added
He pointed out that the government forces set up a temporary checkpoint in the incident’s area and searched passing cars and IDs.
A soldier of Syrian government forces was killed on Friday during clashes with local gunmen in a town of Daraa Governorate in southern Syria.
In 2021, Daraa Governorate went through an 80-day-seige. After that, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, with mediation of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement on September 5, 2021, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security posts in the towns of the governorate.
