ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – New Ibn Rushd hospital in the city of Aleppo was dedicated to receive cholera infections amid blackout by Syrian government, a medical source in the hospital said on Thursday.
The source told North Press that all surgical operations in the hospital were stopped due to the increase in daily visits of suspected cases of cholera.
An exclusive media source told North Press that governmental hospitals prevent media outlets to enter hospitals to monitor cholera cases. They only announce the results through the Media office of the Ministry of Health.
On September 12, a source of al-Razi government hospital in the city of Aleppo, revealed the recording of one death of cholera disease.
The source added that the department for dialysis has been dedicated to cholera patients who need urgent dialysis.
Ibn Rushd is the third hospital in Aleppo after Zahi Azraq and al-Razi hospitals which are being entered on the cholera response line as a result of the increasing number of cholera cases.
An exclusive medical source of al-Razi Hospital told North Press that the number of visits during the past two days reached 97 patients.
A number of them were transferred to Ibn Rushd Hospital especially cases that suffer from kidney disease.
There are advanced cases, arrive at the hospital, suffering from chronic diseases and immune deficiency, the source added.
On September 21, Media office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government announced the recording of 253 new cholera infections and 23 deaths in its held areas.
