Member of government-affiliated militia killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria North Press) – People of a town in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria found on Tuesday the body of a member of a militia affiliated with the Syrian government forces close to the Euphrates River. 

The body of the 29-year-old Ali al-Hassan, member of the National Defense Forces (NDF), was shot dead and buried in an agrarian land in the town of al-Mesreb on the bank of Euphrates River, a military source of the NDF said.  

The NDF is a military formation that was founded by the Syrian government and fought along with it during the years of war.    

The source added that the farmers found the body of al-Hassan buried some meters from a post of the NDF on the west bank of the Euphrates River.

He pointed out that al-Hassan, who hails from Sukhna town in Homs Governorate, went missing five days ago. His comrades notified the post that he fled to areas held by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) for unknown reasons.

The Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias run vast swathes of the Syrian Desert that has recently witnessed several battles between the government forces and Iranian militias on one hand and the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on the other.
