Unknown attack claims life of government soldier in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a soldier of the Syrian government forces, operated in assassination issue, was killed by unidentified armed men in the western countryside of Daraa, a governorate south Syria.
A local source told North Press that the unidentified attackers shot directly Yahya Ali Aradi, a soldier of the government forces, in the town of Ain Thakar west of Daraa.
Aradi was critically wounded, and he was transferred to the National Hospital in the city of Nawa, in the western countryside of Daraa, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the source.
Aradi, who hails from the town of Sbeneh in Rif Dimashq, lived with his family in the village of Sayda al-Golan in the countryside of Quneitra governorate, according to the same source.
It added Aradi was a soldier operating in al-Alan checkpoint of the government forces west of Nawa.
It went further, adding that he cooperated with the government Air Force Intelligence Branch and the Lebanese Hezbollah on the regard of the assassination issue in the western countryside of Daraa.
The Air Forces Intelligence is prominently known for its support to Iran that maintains an intensive deploy in Daraa, according to activists in the region.
On September 18, “Jalal al-Zoubi”, nicknamed Jalal al-Farim, was shot dead by two unknown attackers, riding motorcycles, while he was on the main road in the town of al-Musayfrah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
Al-Zoubi was a member of an armed group affiliated with the government Air Force Intelligence Branch.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis.
In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and government forces reached a settlement agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas in Daraa Governorate. Under the deal, the opposition militants who agreed to hand over their heavy weapons were handed a settlement card and allowed to stay in Daraa, while those opposed the agreement would go to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
