ISIS claims attack against Asayish member in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Saturday an operation carried out against a member of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in a town, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The ISIS-run Amaq news agency said in a statement that militants of the group targeted a member of the Asayish with heavy machineguns close to the village of Harizah of the town of al-Sabha, some 30 km east of Deir ez-Zor.

The member was targeted for alleged “espionage for the Global Coalition,” the statement said.

The Asayish have not made any commentary yet.

Since the beginning of this year, ISIS claimed responsibility for about 133 attacks against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) forces and Asayish members, most of them in Deir ez-Zor, according to statistics made by North Press.

The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
