AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA), targeted on Wednesday the countryside of Ain Issa town in the north of Raqqa, north Syria, with heavy weapons and shells.
The shelling targeted the silos, which are one kilometer away from Ain Issa, with five shells, a local source told North Press.
The indiscriminate shelling began sporadically, and several mortar and artillery shells fell on the surrounding of the town, the source added.
The silos of Ain Issa have become out of service due to repeated Turkish shelling.
On September 9, an individual lost his life in Turkish shelling of the countryside of Ain Issa.
The shelling took place nearby the village of al-Khaldiya in Ain Issa that is situated on M4 Highway.
The town of Ain Issa, western and eastern villages, and other areas of northern Syria are under constant shelling by Turkish forces and SNA factions.
Following the Turkish incursion into northeastern Syria in October 2019, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US stipulating ceasing all hostilities and the withdrawal of the SDF 32 km away from the Turkish border.
The SDF did withdrew from the border areas according to the agreement, but Turkey continues targeting the area.
