Casualties reported in explosion in camp in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – One person lost his life and four others, including women and children, were injured on Monday in a motorcycle explosion in Washokani camp for IDPs west of Hasakah Governorate, northeast Syria.

An eyewitness from the site of explosion told North Press that the motorcycle exploded near a medical point of the Kurdish Red Crescent.

Up on that, the injured were transferred to al-Hikma Hospital in Hasakah, according to the eyewitness.

It mentioned that the explosion occurred during the electricity supply hours to the camp, thus most of the residents were in their tents, otherwise the explosion would have left more casualties.

A medical source in the Kurdish Red Crescent said among the injured are 9-year-old Muhammad Ali, who was hit in the neck, 25-year-old Amina Muhammad Ali, hit in her ear, and 23-year-old Saleh Mahmoud al-Ahmad.

No information was available about the fourth injured person.

The explosion caused damage to a car that was parking near the accident site.
