Azerbaijan repatriates 12 nationals from Syria’s Aleppo

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Azerbaijan repatriated on Saturday 12 of its nationals, including children, who were held in Amerna camp in the city of Jarablus, northern Syria, through Turkey.

The repatriated nationals included two siblings aged seven and 10 who lost their parents, an Azeri news agency reported.

The city of Jarablus, east of Aleppo, has been under the control of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), since 2017.

Trend News Agency said, citing Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, that “after completing the necessary procedures, the government of Azerbaijan plans to transfer them to their families, and reintegrate and rehabilitate them.”

Trend is a private news agency that was founded in 1995. It is considered one of the greatest news agencies in Azerbaijan, Caucasus region, Caspian Sea region and Central Asia.

Coordination between Turkey and Azerbaijan took place to repatriate the nationals, the agency added.

The Ministry stressed that the government of Azerbaijan take the necessary measures to protect the rights of Azerbaijani citizens who go through bad conditions in foreign countries, according to Trend.
