DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Four people were killed, during last week in different circumstances in Daraa, a governorate south Syria, amid security rampant despite four-year government control over the area.

On September 7, Local sources told North Press, “Residents found the body of Fadi Majed Sa’ed dumped near al-Shammari mill north of Muzayrib.”

“The body bore bullet holes, and it was transferred to the National Hospital in the town of Tafas,” the sources added.

Sa’ed, who hails from Muzayrib, was a former militant in the Syrian opposition before joining settlement agreements in the summer of 2018. He did not join any military or security formation ever since.

On September 6, residents found two bodies in western and eastern countryside of Daraa. One of them was of a kidnapped person and the other second was bearing signs of torture.

On the same day, eyewitnesses told North Press, “Residents found the body of Ayman Sarhan al-Mahamid who was kidnapped 20 days ago in the neighborhood of al-Kashef in the governorate, and was found shot dead.”

Al-Mahamid did not join any military or security formations since the settlement agreement in the summer of 2018.

On September 5, a local source told North Press, “Muhammad Eyad Abdurrazaq, nicknamed Abu Qassem al-Aqrabawi, was killed as a result of injuries he sustained, following clashes with the government forces.”

A patrol of the Military Security Branch of the government forces in Daraa raided the house of al-Aqrabawi in al-Yadudah, the source said.

After refusing to turn in himself, both parties exchanged fire which resulted in serious injuries for al-Aqrabawi, the source added.

Al-Aqrabawi was arrested and transferred to the Military Security Branch in Daraa, where he passed away, succumbing to his wounds.

In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and government forces reached a cease-fire agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas in Daraa Governorate.

Under the deal, the opposition armed factions agreed to hand over their heavy weapons in exchange for staying in Daraa, and those oppose the agreement would go to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front).

Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis.
