IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria in Khmeimim Air Base said on Thursday that the Russian Air Force destroyed a camp for “terrorists” in the Sheikh Youssef area of Idlib, northwest Syria, killing more than 120 militants.
Oleg Yegorov, Deputy Chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation said, “Today, the Russian Air Force destroyed a camp for the terrorist Jabhat al-Nusra organization in Sheikh Youssef area, and they eliminated more than 120 militants in air raids and destroyed four posts for launching drones.”
He stressed that “A quantity of launchers and about 20 improvised drones, prepared by the terrorists to attack the positions of the Russian forces in Syria, were destroyed.”
La local source told North Press that this afternoon, Russian warplanes launched 16 airstrikes on the outskirts of Idlib city and positions of Turkish-backed opposition factions in the villages and towns of Sheikh Youssef, Hafsarja and al-Ghafar in Sahl al-Rouj area, west of Idlib.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
