Pro-Iranian militants killed, injured in Syrian Desert

DEIR EZ-ZOR Syria ( North Press) – Two Iranian-backed militants were killed and three others were injured on Wednesday in a machinegun attack against a military post of militias backed by Iran close to the town of Sukhna east of Homs.
A military source of the Syrian government forces told North Press that tens of militants, more likely affiliated to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), targeted with heavy weaponry offices of the military technical service of the Pro-Iranian Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun.
The source added, on condition of anonymity, militants targeted the office for more than an hour, holding ISIS banners.
The attack resulted in the death of two militants and the injury of three others all of them are Syrians, while the remainder fled away after running out of ammunition before attackers seized the office and taking possess of logistics and setting all vehicles in the offices on fire, according to the source.
Pro-Iranian factions and Syrian government forces brought in mass military reinforcements to the region, setting up checkpoints at entrances and exits of nearby towns, while patrols were carried out deep into the Syrian Desert to pursue the attackers.
Number of ISIS militants in the Syrian Desert is estimated at 2.000. They conduct operations against military forces present in the desert, according to observers.
Pro-Iranian factions along with Syrian government forces control large swathes of the Syrian Desert and east countryside of Deir ez-Zor that witnessed recently battles with ISIS.
On September 5, a commander in the Iranian backed Quds Force survived an assassination attempt in his car in the town of Heri in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor on the Syrian- Iraqi border.
One of the attackers was killed and the other fled away.
