Building collapses in Syria’s Aleppo, killing more than 11 people

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A five-storey building collapsed on Wednesday in the city of Aleppo, killing more than 11 people, including seven women, three children and an elderly man.

The building was built illegally in al-Fardos neighborhood, eastern Aleppo city.

A local source said that residents of seven nearby buildings left their houses, fearing that their buildings might collapse as well.

The state-run news agency SANA said, quoting Head of Aleppo City Council Ma’ad al Jabali as saying that the building was built in an unorganized area without architectural foundations.
