Landmine causes wounds to 4 children in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Four children were critically wounded on Wednesday in a landmine explosion while herding sheep in a village south of Kobani, a city north Syria.

A medical source in Amal Hospital in Kobani told North Press, “Four children arrived in the hospital, sustaining wounds of different degrees due to a landmine that had exploded while they were herding sheep in the village of Yade Qawi, thus they were transferred to the hospital for treatment.”

The source added, “10-year-old Jassim Khaled al-Hewies had his leg and also his hand amputated, 6-year-old Fawwaz Khaled suffers from brain haemorrhage, has a broken leg and sustains several wounds, additionally, his condition is critical too.”

“10-year-old Fatimah Khaled sustains several injuries and 3-year-old Zainab Khaled has injuries in her leg,” according to the source from the hospital.

In November 2021, a driver of a tractor was wounded in a landmine explosion that hit his tractor while plowing his land near the village of Zormaghar in the western countryside of Kobani.

The landmine in Kobani and its countryside were left by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) when it attacked the city.

In 2014 ISIS launched a violent ground attack on Kobani with the aim to control it, causing people to suffer the woes of ISIS who committed massacres against them.
