Syrian soldier killed in Idlib – Khmeimim

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria in Khmeimim Air Base said on Tuesday that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) killed a soldier of Syrian government forces in Idlib Governorate, northwest Syria.

Oleg Yegorov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation, said that armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), stationing in the town of Kansafra, shelled Syrian government posts in the town of Kafr Nabl with artillery.

The shelling resulted in the killing of a soldier of the government forces and the injury of another.

In the past 24 hours, the HTS fired two shells, one at Idlib, and the other at Latakia, Yegorov added.

On September 4, three soldiers of the government forces were killed and another was wounded in a rocket attack by the SNA factions, according to Khmeimim.

The areas in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria continue to witness daily exchange of bombardment between the SNA factions and the government forces, despite being part of the ceasefire agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in March 2020, which stipulates a halt of military action in Idlib.
