Turkey deports 2.712 Syrians in August
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Management of Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, north of Idlib, revealed on Monday the highest number of Syrian refugees deported by Turkey to Syrian opposition-held areas in northwest Syria during August.
The crossing management said on its official Facebook account that the number of Syrians “deported” by the Turkish authorities to Syria during the month of August reached 2.712 people, including men, women and children.
Early in May, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a project to return one million Syrian refugees from Turkey to Syria, after starting to build settlements in 13 regions in northern Syria.
While the total number of travelers to and from Turkey through Bab al-Hawa border crossing reached 17.157, including 2.586 women and 14.571 men, according to the management.
The management indicated that 7.349 people left Syria for Turkey, and 9.808 people entered Syria from Turkey.
On August 4, the management of Bab al-Hawa border crossing revealed that the Turkish authorities deported about 2.000 Syrian refugees in July to areas held by Turkey and its affiliated armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA).
Turkey is working on deporting Syrian refugees illegally claiming that the refugees violate the asylum laws and not updating their own data regarding the Temporary Protection Card (Kimlik).
