Iraq launches 7th phase of Operation Solid Will against ISIS
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the 7th phase of Operation “Solid Will” was launched in Iraq, specifically in the governorates of Saladin and Diyala.
Solid Will is an operation launched by Iraqi forces, aiming at clearing vast lands of the country from the Islamic State Organization’s (ISIS) sleeper cells.
A statement by Iraqi Security Media Cell (SMC) read, “Under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command-JOC, units of Salah al-Din, Diyala and Samarra Ops commands began on Saturday morning the 7th phase of the Operation, with air support from the army aviation and the air force.”
The SMC released another statement, in which it said, “The air force, in cooperation with the Joint Operations Command-JOC, targeted a post of the ISIS.”
“The units of Salah al-Din also inspected the targeted post,” according to the statement.
The series of these operations aims at pursuing the ISIS after the organization has intensified its practices during this year in Iraq, especially in the central areas and the line of the disputed areas between Baghdad and Erbil.
