Body of Iraqi IRGC militant found in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, residents of a town east of Deir ez-Zor governorate, east Syria, found the body of an Iraqi militant of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with stab wounds.
A military source of the IRGC said residents of the town of al-Mojawda east of the governorate found the body of the IRGC militant stabbed with a sharp tool.
The body of the Iraqi militant, who went messing eight days ago, was buried in a land near his headquarters where he served in the town, according to the source.
The source, who spoke in the condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the Iraqi militant was a tank driver, who transformed drinking water among military posts.
The source went further saying that the IRGC arrested the land owner and owners of the surrounding houses for investigation to know the killer and motive for the murder.
The Syrian Desert covers nearly half of the area of Syria, and is distributed over the governorates of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Rif Dimashq, Suwayda and Palmyra.
Iranian-backed militias and the government forces control large areas of the Syrian Desert and the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, which constitutes a source of concern as it witnesses intensive operations by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) sleeper cells.
