Turkish forces hit north of Syria’s Hasakah for second successive day
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian opposition factions continued, for the second successive day, targeting villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.
A source from Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press the village of Dardara north of Tel Tamr was targeted by the Turkish forces in the evening on Friday.
This followed another shelling of the village of al-Tawila west of Tel Tamr in the morning with a barrage of artillery shells.
Late on Thursday, Tel Tamr countryside underwent fierce Turkish shelling with artillery.
The shelling caused material losses and spread panic among residents.
Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25,000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo governorate in northwest.
The town has been under constant attack by Turkish forces and their SNA factions for more than two years.
Parts of the northern and western countryside of the town and the entire southern countryside are protected by the Syriac Military Council and the Assyrian Khabour Guards Forces, while the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions control the northern countryside up to the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) on the northern border of Syria.
