DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Three people were killed in a week in Daraa Governorate, southern Syria; two of them were civilians, amidst ongoing insecurity state.
On Friday, a person was killed and his brother was injured in a mine explosion of remnants of war in the east of the town of Inkhil in Daraa northern countryside.
A local source told North Press that Haytham al-Omar lost his life and his brother Walid was seriously injured by the explosion of the mine while they were working in their agricultural land.
On August 30, eyewitnesses told North Press, “Residents found the body of Muhammad Yasser al-Mahamid on the side of Damascus-Daraa highway in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
Al-Mahamid was a former member of Syrian opposition, who joined the settlement in the summer of 2018. After that, he did not join any military faction, a local source said.
On August 29, Issam Muhammad al-Zoubi, member of the Military Security Branch of the government forces in Daraa, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
A local source told North Press that unidentified gunmen broke into al-Zoubi house in the town of al-Tibah, north of Daraa, and opened fire on him.
Al-Zoubi was taken to the National Hospital in Busra al-Sham in the western countryside and succumbed to his injuries there.
Daraa Martyrs Documentation Office, a local non-governmental organization that follows up the toll of the dead and detainees in Daraa, said in its monthly report that “55 assassinations took place during August which led to the killing of 38 people and the injury of 12 others, while 5 survived.”
The report revealed that among the victims were 22 former members of the Syrian opposition factions, four of whom joined the ranks of the Syrian government forces, according to the office.
