ISIS claims responsibility for targeting SDF vehicle in Syria Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed on Wednesday responsibility for targeting a military vehicle, belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The ISIS-run news agency publicized a statement, in which it said militants of the organization targeted, with an IED, a military vehicle of the SDF near a water station in the town of Zer, 35 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor. As a result, an SDF fighter was wounded.

A military source of the SDF told North Press that an IED exploded in a military vehicle of the SDF on the main route in Zer, reporting no casualties or material losses.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.

On Aug. 27, ISIS claimed responsibility for a missile attack on an SDF headquarters in Zer, claiming that a number of the SDF fighters were wounded and material losses were reported.

However, a military source of the SDF refuted that the attack wounded any members.
