Unknown attack claims life of AANES employee east Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – An employee of the Kurdish-led Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) was shot dead on Tuesday by unidentified armed men in a town west of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.
A local source from the town of Hemar al-Ali in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor said the 39-year-old Abdullah al-Hamada was shot dead by unknown gunmen, who were riding a motorcycle, with machineguns.
Hamada was targeted when he left his house towards the market.
He is an employee of Social Justice Council (Court) in the town of al-Kasrah in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, the source added.
The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the SDF defeated ISIS militarily there.
Several days ago, he received threats via Whatsapp with killing in case of not quitting his job, according to the source.
Although the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.
The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
On August 29, a man shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the town of Gharanij in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The town of Gharanij has not witnessed any assassination incident for more than two years.
