QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Media center of the Internal Security Forces of North and east Syria (Asayish) said on Wednesday they arrested 11 suspects of belonging to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) after received information about their place of hiding.

The Asayish, in a statement publicized on their official Facebook account, said in the seventh day of a security campaign at 04:00 am they stormed the first sector (designated for Syrians) in Hawl Camp.

On August 25, the Asayish announced launching the second phase of Operation “Humanity and Security” in Hawl Camp to pursue the ISIS sleeper cells.

The first phase was launched in 2021 in response to calls of community and tribal leaders in Hawl countryside to reduce crimes at the camp.

Five out of the 11 arrestees were confirmed to be members of the ISIS, according to the Asayish media center.

It went further, stressing that investigations are ongoing and that findings will be released as soon as the investigations are over.

Earlier today, the Asayish announced the arrest of 15 individuals suspected of belonging to ISIS, the remove of 3 tents, and finding three trenches that were used for hiding ISIS militants during the sixth day of the operation.

The Security and Humanity operation continues in its seventh days to pursue ISIS militants and results will be publicized tomorrow morning.

Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.

The camp witnesses murders with different methods, most notably firearms. The management of the camp fears that the latest Turkish threats of invading areas in northern Syria would pave the way for ISIS to reorganize its ranks; North Press cited a statement by the management as saying.
