ISIS claims responsibility for missile attack against SDF east Syria

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State Organization claimed on Tuesday responsibility for a missile attack on a headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The ISIS-run news agency Amaq publicized a statement, saying that militants of the organization targeted with machineguns and missiles a headquarters of the SDF in the town of Zer, wounding a number of them and causing material damages.

However, a military source of the SDF refuted on Tuesday that the attack wounded any members.

The SDF military post, which is situated on the Euphrates River bank in Zer, which is affiliated with al-Busayrah, has been hit with three RPGs, according to the source.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.

On Aug. 28, the ISIS claimed, through close media outlets, responsibility for assassinating an SDF fighter near the main road in the town of al-Suwar, north of Deir ez-Zor.
